belgrad forest

15 kilometers north-west of Istanbul, on the European side, it lies the beautiful Belgrade Forest, the largest woodland of the region.
The forest is named after the successful capture of the Serbian city of Belgrade in the XVI century by Sultan Suleyman. Within the forest can be found also some historical reservoirs of Roman and Ottoman times, indeed in the past this was the main source of water for Istanbul.
Locals and travelers come here for a pic-nic, a barbecue or just to enjoy the beauty of the nature. Sportsmen can exercise in the forest following the jogging trails available.

Bike-lovers like us can ride their MTB on off-road tracks, among trees, water streams and old ruins.
If you are crazy enough, you can try some mud biking. It’s fun!
